Jon Jones Responds to Dana White Over White House Fight Card Dispute

UFC champion Jon Jones has publicly responded to recent comments made by Dana White regarding his absence from a proposed fight card reportedly linked to the White House.

In a statement posted on social media, Jones said he felt compelled to respond after White suggested that the fighter was unable to participate due to health concerns. According to Jones, negotiations between his team and the UFC had been ongoing and serious discussions were taking place about the potential fight.

Jones stated that he had already lowered his initial financial demands during negotiations, but claimed the promotion responded with what he described as a “lowball” offer. The fighter argued that the breakdown in negotiations had nothing to do with his ability to compete.

Addressing speculation about his health, Jones confirmed he is dealing with arthritis in his hip but said the condition does not prevent him from fighting. He pointed out that if he had accepted the UFC’s offer, the injury would likely not have been cited as a reason for his absence.

Jones also revealed he recently underwent stem cell treatment in preparation for a possible training camp and was planning to begin training this week with the goal of competing on the White House card.

While acknowledging that business negotiations can sometimes fall apart, Jones criticized the public narrative surrounding the situation. He said hearing suggestions that he may be “done” with the sport was disappointing after years of title defenses and contributions to the organization.

The former champion also claimed that as recently as last Friday the UFC was still attempting to bring him onto the event for a significantly lower payment.

Jones concluded his statement by saying that if the UFC truly believes his career is finished, he would respectfully request to be released from his contract.
